Buyer Checklist:

Speak to mortgage brokers

Before you go shopping you need to know what is in your wallet! A broker can look at your personal circumstances/income and help place you with the right lender. It makes a huge difference to your offer if you can back it up with a mortgage broker’s contact details and if they have already crunched the numbers for you.

Speak to solicitors

Again this can have a positive impact on your offer as it demonstrates you really are prepared to buy and are on top of your admin paperwork.

Set up a separate property email address

You can set up a free Gmail (or similar) account just for your property search. This allows you to have one inbox for all your property needs which you can delete once you have finished buying.

Set up Rightmove and Zoopla alerts

In addition to registering with estate agents you can set up email alerts on the major property portals so you get notified when a property matching your specific requirements becomes available.

Feedback to your agent after a viewing

If you ignore calls and emails from your estate agent after a viewing, it may result in those agents being less likely to contact you again when a good property comes up. Sellers have prepared for the viewing and the agent has taken the time to show the property. A 30-second feedback call or email to let the agent/seller know what you thought will go a long way in putting you towards the front of the list on new properties.
